We’re pretty satisfied with how easy Dot X is to set up and configure for new users. However, some users require more advanced features and more complex controls. Streamers and users with a more complex setup tick those boxes, so this post will shed some light on what’s possible and where to find information on how to achieve the perfect setup.
There are countless ways to configure your setup and everyone has their own preferences. If you don’t find what you’re looking for in this article, please don’t hesitate to join our Discord and ask your specific question – we may have a solution for you. Often times, if we don’t have an immediate solution, we may be able to accommodate your request in future versions – we’re constantly improving and updating our Dot X software.
If you use VoiceMeeter to handle your audio, Decker and Dot X is the perfect companion! By utilizing the MIDI mode for Dot X you can easily set up Dot X to control VoiceMeeter functions. We cover this in our documentation which can be found here.
Sonar GG works by creating multiple virtual audio devices. Those can be controlled by Dot X, essentially enabling Sonar GG control from Dot X. This has a limitation where it won’t work if “Streamer mode” is enabled, but if you don’t need that then Decker and Dot X has you covered. You can check out the documentation for setting Dot X up with Sonar GG here.
If you have other software that accepts MIDI messages to operate, then Dot X is set up to be able to change the channel and CC values to your liking. It should be able to do whatever you want it to do when it comes to MIDI control. If you want to read more about the MIDI feature in Dot X, take a look at our documentation here.
In addition to the above options, you also have the option of controlling the volume levels of programs and applications directly from Dot X. It’s as easy as choosing the slider to configure and ticking the programs to bind to that slider. It’s that simple! We have a guide with pictures if you’d like to see how that looks here.
Maybe you don’t need any of these options and all you want to do is directly control hardware or virtual input/output devices. You can easily set this up in Dot X. An in-depth look at how to configure programs and input/output devices can be found in our “Getting started” documentation here. For information about how to specify the input/output device to control, you can use the same procedure as described in the Sonar GG setup, but instead of the GG Sonar specific devices you select the other available devices. Check that out here!
If you didn’t find a suitable option in the list, come join us in our Discord and describe your setup to us. We may be able to help you or improve Dot X to better suit your approach.
